Vista 64 = Overlay is disabled, media palyer is over bright

Overlay isn't supported on vista yet?

I noticed my video brightness looked a little too high so I went on over to
the nvidia control panel and 'adjust video colour settings' but it displayed
a message saying overlay disabled.

VLC player doesn't use overlay so it displays correctly. Media player on
left and VLC player on right.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?
