I think I have a virus. Someone or something keeps moving my curser around.
What can I do?

Two possibilities:

1. Spend hours and hours trying to clean up your machine with no
guarantees that it will be virus free when you're done.

2. Back up your data and reinstall Windows.

If it's a laptop...
probably just a fault keypad

A wandering cursor may be the result of corrupt video adapter drivers or
even a bad video adapter. Download the latest drivers for your video
adapter and see if this resolves the issue.

Hello Bill:

Disconnect from the Internet when you see these movements. If the
movements continue, the other posters have rendered fine solutions.

While noting the aberrant behavior, are applications launched, do you
detect anything being typed? Are the movements primarily in only one
direction. Vertical, horizontal, diagonal?

It's highly unlikely that it's a virus doing that. Look elsewhere for
the cause.

Answer the following questions:

1. Laptop or desktop?

2. Using a mouse or touch pad?

3 When does it happen? When using the computer or when you are not
touching it?

Or...

Someone in close vicinity also uses a wireless mouse and is on the same channel.
