virus security on pc

Hi

Can anyone please advise me about how to scan for the new virus I keep
hearing about in the news on the bbc web page I already have spybot spyware
blaster and mcfee windows defender but it states most of these cannot detect
it.

Can someone please advise me about this as my pc has been playing up a bit
latley I had to reset it to factory settings to get it back on and I keep
losing my internet connection.

Hi,
Can you please elaborate about " My System playing Up". I know what you
talking about, but this mainly for website vulnerable hosted on a weak
servers, or Am i going in the wrong direction?.

Tell us more about the system error and phenomena's that appears to make you
think you caught something nasty!.

Sorry, I clicked on new message instead of reply

As I said I keep losing my internet connection and my system keeps slowing
down I am unable to download certain programmes or it lets me download them
but some thing stops them from working on the internet.

Please advise :)

But you mentioned in your other post that you done a Recovery to factory
Settings ?.

Go through these Cleaning steps:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Tabs:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

Scan for malware from here:
SuperAntispyware - Free

Run a scan from here on-line:

Download Avast Cleaner (offline scanner) from here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-virus-cleaner.html

Lots of tools to download and disinfect your machine (offline scanner):
http://www.bitdefender.co.uk/site/Downloads/browseFreeRemovalTool/

After the scan run disk cleanup on your drive.

Open a run command and type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]
Reboot your machine and see if your connection will behave itself and the
access and download from the Internet is also okay.
Or tey this tool for winsock fix:

Download it and execute and it will prompt you to Restart your machine
please do so.

2- Download the Hijackthis and send the report to one of many
forums for analysis and troubleshooting:

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis) is
the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. Post

http://castlecops.com/forum67.html,
http://forums.subratam.org/index.php?showforum=7, or other appropriate
forums for expert analysis, not here.

As I was working on the pc last week it froze up I could not do anything on
the screen i tried the end task thing but nothing worked i shut the pc down
rebooted but then no icons came on the screen and I did not have a task bar
at the bottom with the start menu I then switched it off again and pressed
f12 I think and restored to factory settings and had to download everything I
had on the pc in the first place since then I have had trouble with the
internet as I explained earlier and after downloading new programmes which
are free they cannot access the internet.
