Virus Scan on Word startup

I need some help!

Each time I start the MS Word program a virus scan runs even if there is no
document loaded. How can I turn off this feature?

Check the settings on your AV program.

As JoAnn has indicated this message comes not from Word, but from your AV
software. Some AV software allows you to turn this off, others do not. In
the case of Norton AV, uncheck its office plug-in.

Graham,

That worked. It still seems to takes a long time to load and unload the
program but the Virus Check is no longer running.

All Virus Scanning can be stopped: If your using Norton

Open Norton
Click on: Norton Internet Security
Click on: Options
Click on: Norton AntiVirus Options
Click on: Miscellanous
Click on: (Disable): Enable Office Plug-in
