virus on xp

recently i have had losts of visruses and triedto get rid
of them and i sem to have erradidcated most of the
problems except the2 following problems

1 when i shut the computer down when it gets to
the 'windows is logging off' it dosent ever change and
stays there till unplug it from the screen.

2 also when irun my norton anti virus it sacans ok until
it gets to intserv file on my my c drive.now i have left 2
days as it may be a big fil but it never changed and when
i scanned the file individaully it scanned in seconds and
showed no virus...please help!

3mt ie shuts down on random websites with out warning .

i did have the w32.spybot and certaind strands of the
harmony virus ...now im not a technophobe but have limited
knowledge ogetting rid oviruses so if you could help mre
in anyway iw ould be very grateful

System Restore, a Windows XP feature, is similar to the "Last Known Good
Configuration" in Windows NT and Windows 2000. You can use System Restore to
restore the computer to a previous state, using the backups that it makes of
selected system files and program files. Unlike the "Last Known Good
Configuration" feature, System Restore maintains multiple restore points.
This gives you the choice of restoring your computer to any number of
previously saved states.

While this is a desirable feature, in some cases it should be temporarily
turned off. For example, if the computer is infected with a virus, then it
is possible that the virus could be backed up by System Restore. By default,
Windows prevents System Restore from being modified by outside programs. As
a result, there is the possibility that you could restore a virus-infected
file, or that the on-line scanners would detect the virus in that location.

Disabling System Restore does not delete or remove any of your personal data
from your computer. The only files removed are those that System Restore
created, the restore points. Using System Restore to revert to a previously
saved restore point does not affect any of your personal data files or any
items in your My Documents folder. For more information search the Microsoft

Overview" and "Understanding System Restore." These documents explain what
System Restore is, how it works, and more information about the effects of
turning it on or off.

Disable System Restore, boot up to Safe Mode (by pressing F8 during bootup)
and scan for viruses. Make sure your virus scanner is updated. Then use
Adaware and Spybot to get rid of Malware that you also have. Before going
back online, enable XP's firewall and go to windows update and update your
computer, to get rid of your sasser or blaster virus.
