Hi,

I have google'd looked at microsoft documentation and updated everything
possible and tried many worm(sasser) removers.

But still having problems with it doing that C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/lsass.
exe problem where it shuts down your computer after 60 seconds.

The sasser remover I downloaded said that it wasn't on the PC, I would just
reinstall windows on the laptop, but the CD-ROM for some reason can only
be read in windows, when I try to boot off of CD-ROM it just sits there
forever, so I need to be able to get rid of the virus off of windows?

Anyone with similar problems?

Thanks,
Matt

Just the *attack* will shut down your PC, you don't
necessarily *have* the virus at that point.

Enabling the XP built-in firewall will usually get things
going long enough to d/l and install the security patches
to stop the little basta*d..

You may have to change the boot order in the BIOS
of your laptop in order for it to boot off the CD.

reboot the machine. Then go start and run type: shutdown -a and press
enter. Then right click on my computer go to properties then system restore
and put a check where it states to turn off system restore. Get on the
internet and download a program called stinger.exe and update your Anti-virus
program. If you dont have one you d\l AVG for free make sure you install
and update it. Run stinger.exe and see if it catches your virus. Then run
what ever anti-virus program you are using. Remember everytime you restart
the computer you must do the shutdown -a so the computer does not restart
until you remove the virus. Also update your windows all the service packs.
ONce you have gotten all the service packs run the Anti-virus program to make
sure you are not infected. Restart the machine and then go back and enable
system restore.

Have you downloaded and run the Mcafee stinger, a limited virus remover?

In addition to the other replies - you must enable your XP firewall
immediately and leave it enabled - or use a good third party firewall. Don't
connect to the Internet 'bareback' for even just a few seconds.
