You cannot access the internet in safe mode so that
option is out the door.It would have been very helpful if
you gave the name (exact name) of the virus.
I suggest that you go to your local electronics store and
buy and internet security package.
But the way Spybot has nothing to do with viruses!

You can get a free virus scan online, and I think there are one or two
free Antivirus programs available. If you can't download one, then you
will probably have to pay for a good AV program. I would stay away from
"Internet Security" packages because they often conflict with other
software. Just get a good, brand-name AV program such as Norton or McAffee.

Some kinds of malware can be manually removed, and the damage repaired.
Symantec (www.symantec.com) has several removal tools available for free
download. Symantec Security Check
(http://www.symantec.com/product/index_homecomp.html) has a free virus
scanner.

I think your only option is to go and buy an AV Program. There are ways of
checking the registry to see if a virus is loading files at startup but if
you don't have much experience with working with the registry I would go
with the first option.
