virus confusion

yesterday i was having trouble with java so mucks said to try kaspersky online scanner-cheers mucks its a good job you told me as it came up with 1 virus & 8 email worms.

totally gutted & did not know what to do & wasnt sure whether the kaspersky had got rid of them so i uninstalled avg & sas & downloaded antivir & spybot s&d & also found 6 lots of java so uninstalled all of them & downloaded the latest.

then i ran antivir & spybot in safe mode but they didnt come up with anything so does that mean they have gone? poota really quiet now?

I never open emails from people i dont know so not sure how this happend but when my friend re did everything she also did my outlook express which up until then ive never used.
is there an email scanner that i can use for all my email address`s like yahoo/windows live messenger/outlook express.i was using the avg one but obviously this didnt work.
totally confused over all this & not sure what to do.any help or advice would be very gratefull- either that or poota going out window for good.thanks

I thought you were "havin problems" again ... you don't need to open emails to be infected these days.


KAV online does not remove any nasties, sorry. Best bet is to go get THIS and update it to ver 7 ... or, go get This

Then you can dump all the others.


Once again I say ... if you think you have a "problem" with a suspected Nastie, then please post a HJT log ... it will at least let me 'see' if there is anything lurking within.

I see nothing in your HJT log of any unusual activity ... leave the system as it is, no need to change AVs

i did spend most of last night reading through all the notes ide written down from the archives on the forum so i now have comodo firewall & mailwasher which is working fine & easy enough for me to understand
