Microsoft Outlook doesn't come with a antivirus solution. You have a 3rd
party solution installed that most likely integrates with Outlook that has
failed.
NEO, thanks for the response. Please review postings in general Q's under
"virus check engine" for more comments. This is happening to several people
and it started April 1. Haven't determined common link but I was using MS
Windows Live OneCare for AV. Deleted and installed Eset NOD 32, went thru
several other steps to no avail.
I couldn't tell by looking at the previous threads if anyone suggested that
the uninstall of Windows Live OneCare might not be complete. Perhaps
running this tool might help.
Neo, Thanks. I ran the utility and it didn't work. The People at HP have been
unable to help either. Everyone seems to favor wiping the hard drive and
starting over...
If you can, open the registry and take a peek at this location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions
What do you have listed here?
The other section I am curious about is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
What do you have listed here?
The only other harmless thing I can think to try is to delete a file named
extend.dat. This file would be located under \documents and
settings\<userid>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. This
file will be rebuilt from the registry data at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions
Note: I'm assuming you are running a 32bit operating system like Windows
2000/XP.
Guprup in India provided the solution: Download the latest version of Outlook
Connector. Uninstall old version, install new version (3/27/2009 ver. 12.1)
and preso chango! It works...
