Hello,

I have downloaded MS AntiSpyware Beta specifically to rid my wife's laptop
of this adware, but it does not work. Before the laptop can be re-booted, the
trojan re-installs itself. I have found nothing that works (tried Spybot
Search and Destroy, KillBox, Hijack This and BHODemon).

Try the tools and instructions listed here;

Note that this is leading-edge stuff, is not for the faint-hearted, please proceed

Thanks for your help. The link you gave in your previous post
(http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=16280) provided a solution - VundoFix.exe
from www.atribune.org seems to have ridded the laptop of Virtumondo. I just
had to clean up the registry after the program had done its work.

I will also investigate your later suggestion, in case I come across the
Virtumondo devil again. The Microsoft Anti-Spyware tool obviously needs some
improvement: I wonder whether it is worth keeping it installed?

Thanks again.

MSAS is a great tool, which I and other MVPs highly recommend, you should
keep it installed - updated and running to help protect your PC.
No anti-Spyware application will or can catch everything.

You may try Ewido (freeware) as well;
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Contact me via my website and I will send you complete instructions
how to successfully install and run the application.
(http://msmvps.com/siljaline/) Note the server is very busy now...

The below URL is an excellent source of layered protection.
Here, you will find download and installation instructions for
"HijackThis" -
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
You may run HijackThis and post a log to one of the Forums listed
or below; (Please clearly state that "siljaline" sent you)

Good luck and please post back if I can be of further assistance.
