I guess I'm just lucky :(
but the even more amazing thing to me is that it's resisted
uninstalling/reinstalling and system restore.
would there be any registry edits controlling it? or does the .xml file do
all of it?

I was under the impression is was all in the .xml file.

But I'm not expert on this. I just use the thing, and happened to notice
that you were having EXACTLY the problem I'd had.

Hmmm. You might try a system wide search for the .XML file and make sure
there's only one. When I moved my virtual PCs to my D: drive from my C: one
I had to go back and eradicate the .vmc files on C: because it kept using
those instead of the ones on D:.

If you haven't already, you might try this question on

Thanks Bill. I'm at work right now, but will check when I get home.
I might also try installing on a separate HD like you & see if that helps.
I have already posted to microsoft.public.virtualpc, but no response so far.

It seems I'm cursed to live with this peccadillo :(

Removed all traces that I could find of the original VPC installation, inc.
registry, then reinstalled to separate partition, but I still can't maximise
the console.

It isn't really the end of the world, as the menus are all available from
right-clicking the icon in system tray .. fortunately.

thx to all who endeavoured to resolve this issue for me.
