Virtual Memory

I have Windows XP. 56 GB hard drive & 512 memory. I
have this error message pop-up sometimes & my computer
becomes really, really slow. Programs run really slow &
at times the computer freezes. I've had to shutdown
manually just to get the computer to shut off. This does
not happen when I first turn on the computer. It only
happens (we have DSL) after opening Microsoft Internet
Explorer & actually going online.

Error message is:
Windows-Virtual Memory Minimum Too Low

Windows is increasing the size of your virutal memory
paging file. During this process, memory requests for
some applications may be denied.

Can anyone help me with this problem? I've been told
this could be a problem with my Norton antivirus & my
firewall protection. I have disabled the firewall,
uninstalled antivirus, reinstalled antivirus, rebooted
the computer (and the firewall enabled itself) & this
still has not fixed the problem. I have plenty of memory
available about 450 MB. 46 GB hard drive space.

Thank you,
K.G.
