I need to know how can i free up my virtual memory. If i'm not using any
programs, and my computer is showing the destop, my computer's memory is
still only 20% free, and the other is used for (swap file) if i open 1 or 2
files my memory drops to 5% free. i have 64mbs of Ram memory. I don't know if
this is related, but i have a 37.2 gb hard drive, only using 5 gbs the other
31GBs are free.

You need at least 256mb of ram for your system to run smoothly and 512mb if
you install SP2 and have a few applications open.
With 64mb I'm suprised that you can do anything with your computer at all.

As your other reply says!

Slow performance resulting from insufficient memory, causing over reliance
on virtual memory,
may be especially noticed by those upgrading to Windows XP from an earlier
version of Windows.
Windows XP will run with 64 MB of RAM memory. However, a minimum of 256 MB
is
recommended and many users will recommend 512 MB. You may check on pagefile
(virtual
memory) usage with Page File Monitor for XP:

Hope this helps.
