Virtual Machine Update

C

Chris L.

Apparantely, I need to update 'Java Virtual Machine'.
Fine. As I acess a webpage requiring it (And there are A
LOT of webpages that apparently want me to download this
update so they will work...) it pops up a window "To
display this page correctly, you need to download and
install the following components: JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE.
There are 2 buttons, download and cancel. Being the kind
of user who likes anything automatic, I hit download, and
it takes me to a microsoft page with this text:

We're sorry. The page you are viewing requires that you
have a more recent version of the Microsoft Virtual
Machine on your system. To obtain an updated version of
the Microsoft Virtual Machine, please go to Windows Update.

So I hit windows update. There are no updates for my
computer.
Do I need Java VM to get Java VM?
Or am I cought in a temporal vortex created by a multi-
billion dollar monopoly?
I re-installed Internet Explorer 6 (with service pack) and
it STILL doesn't work.
