viral confusion, downloader.mscache

my kid had a window open up that indicated that the machine may have a
virus, it spewed the term downloader.mscache. We have Norton
uptodate. did a system scan and norton came up empty. went to
symantec security and looked up downloader.mscache. Symantec's
response is confusing to me. First, it says there are certain files
that this trojan horse mayhave placed on the machine. A file search
indicates that we have one of these files "randomiser.exe" on our
machine. we turn norton onto check this file and it says no virus.
what gives? should we delete this randomiser.exe? what do we do?

Randomiser.exe and other files are components of this trojan. Symantec gives specific removal instructions, as well as other vendors.
