Viewing website with Opera

I just downloaded Opera to see what my website would look like there. Some
of the text it left as Verdana, some it converted to Times New Roman. Why
would it leave some as Verdana, but convert some?

The hearts that I use to separate areas were all converted to the copyright
symbol. Anyway I can fix that?

I wonder if enough people use Opera to worry about it? However, those
copyright symbols marching across the page look pretty strange!

I'd double check what your fonts are in the source code - there could the be
the odd stray one that has set the fonts to Times roman and others that have
set the fonts to Verdana.

You have not specified a font face for a lot of the paragraphs and
cells in the home page. Example:
<p><font size="2">Visit <a href="http://www.projectlinus.org">
http://www.projectlinus.org</a> the Project Linus National Office
website
for additional information about Project Linus, including the history
of our
organization, local chapter listings, and patterns for quilts and
afghans.</font></p>

The font tag specifies the size, but not the face.

The hearts are using the same ASCII code as the copyright symbol. If
the computer used does not have the Symbol font installed (or the
browser does not recognise the font), the user will see a copyright.
Consider converting the heart to a transparent gif image in a graphics
program, and using the image instead of the text symbol.

Thank you for the help.

Why does the text show up on my local website and in other browsers as
Verdana even though it wasn't specified for each cell? I thought sure I had
done that, especially since it appears as Verdana every place except Opera.

Do you have your browser set to use Verdana as it's default font?

Yep, I do! Guess that answers that question. Thanks!

Now, I just have to figure out how to convert my hearts to gif!

I'm learning, I'm learning.

I certainly do appreciate all the help willingly given on this newgroup.
