I'm using FP 2k3 and when I go to Format / Theme I get this tiny
little box on the right side with these tiny little thumbnails of what
a theme looks like. In Fp2k2 I got a nice big window with a nice big
picture of a sample theme. Is there some way to view the themes in a
larger view so I can actually see what they look like instead of
having a tiny little thumbnail to look at?

Open a new page in a web. Format | Theme. Click on a thumb and it will
preview on your page.

yeah but it doesn't show the buttons and banners and things like that
that used to show in the other version. I'd have to make a sample
page and put in buttons, navigation bars, banners, text, bullets,
divider lines, etc just to see all the components.

Shows on my FP-03.

It only applies the theme to the things that are on the page. So if
it's a blank page, it just shows the background. If I have data on
the screen then it shows the font and background. I'm looking for a
shot that would have al the different theme components even if I
haven't used them yet like it showed in FP02

After you select your theme Just select Customize (from the dropdown) to see everything
- same as in earlier versions you had to select modify
- use cancel to leave the theme unchanged
