Hi,

I have user using Outlook 2003. We have archived off his mail into archive
folders on an annual basis.
Eg. mail from 2005 is in a 2005 archive and so on.

The problem I'm having is that when the user opens the archive it appears to
have no items in it. However if I use the Advanced Find it displays all the
items.

How do I set the standard folder view to display the contents of the archive
folders???

to make an Archive folder appear in the Folder List view:

File | open | outlook data file and browse to it.

I hope this helps you at least a little bit!

Hi Judy,
Thank you for the reply.

I've already opened the archive folders in the folder list.
They just don't show anything in them other than copies of some of the
inbox's folders . . . And I've checked for the 'modified date' issue that has
been mentioned in some of the other posts.

The only way I can view the contents of the archives is to click;
Tools | Find | Advanced Find
Then select the advanced tab and set up the search criteria to specifically
look in the required archive folder and set the receive and sent dates for a
specific range

This seems to be the only way this user can now ;
a) See the contents of this archive and
b) open and read the messages stored in it.

How do i make these messages visible without having to search for them every
time???

Am I missing something???

Did you display the Folder List navigation pane so you can see all the folders in the archive store?

Hi Sue,

I've added the archive folders into the folders view on the left side of the
screen using;
File|Data File Management. . . |Add|Office Outlook Personal Folders File
(.pst)

I then browse to the folder where the archives are located, select it and
open it from there.

That's not what I was asking. Unless you display the Folder List navigation pane, rather than the Mail pane, etc., you will not be able to see all the folders in the archive store.

I've switched it to the folder view and still can't see the items in the
archive folder that appear when I search for them using the advanced find.

Did you look in each folder in the archive store?
