"View slide show" causes computer to reboot

When I hit F5 in PowerPoint to view a slide show, my new Acer Aspire One
netbook dies and reboots. It has 1 GB of memory; should be enough. Any
ideas?

This kind of crashes are often caused by hardware driver problems. As you
have a new netbook, I would guess that there might be updates available
that work better for the computer's new components (the drivers on your
hard disk may be half year old and Acer has no doubt found many bugs
since).

Check whether Acer has updates available (the netbook might have a checking
application from Acer or Acer might have such a tool on their website -
most companies today have one available). Check also that you have all
updates installed that Microsoft might provide for Windows, Office or your
computer.

This morning both F5 and View | Slide Show work in PowerPoint but both cause
a blue screen and reboot in Open Office Impress. The error message that
appeared from last night's trials said it was a device or driver problem.
