View setup in Explorer

Can someone please tell me how to set up Explorer to
display details instead of icons, and continue doing so
forever.

I can set the view to details, and it sometimes stays that
way for as long as a doy or two, but inevitably I wind up
with an icon view again.

I never had this problem until I upgraded to XP, but I'd
really like to never see the icon view for the rest of my
life.

Since this is really getting frustrating, I'd appreciate
any advice you may have.

view>>details

If you then want to set the detail view for all folders as the
default, go to the tools menu \ folder options \ view. Click "apply to
all folders". Apply and okay your way out.
