Video plays slowly after sending to DV Camera

have had many problems with .avi files that were imported
from my Canon DV under W2K now playing slowly on my
computer (Desktop P111 256MB) since I upgraded to XP Pro.

Someone suggested using DivX which appears to correct this
problem. However, when I use MM2 to send edited movie
back to my Canon DV (through 1394) the resultant movie on
the camera runs very slowly.

Can anyone help please?

Tried DVIO and got around 50% Drops which implies my PIII
is running slowly? probably due to XP SP1?
