I have two .avi file videos embedded in a powerpoint pres. When I run them,
they do run however; they flash black sporadically. Youcan see every 3 or for
frames as they run are black. They run fin in media player and on other
systems. The video card is a Nvidia 8300 in a Sony laptop.

Quite honestly, I wouldn't even fight with it. I'd convert the AVI files to
WMV, insert them, and be done with it.

You can use Windows Movie Maker to do the conversion. Or use the PFCPro
utility to do it for you. (There's a free trial download available here:
www.playsforcertain.com For that matter, there are good media tutorials on
that site that may help you figure out the issue with the AVIs, if you
really want to spend the time and effort. Here are some additional ideas
(this one is my own site) http://www.echosvoice.com/tshoot_video2.htm for
troubleshooting issues with media in PPT, but I don't have anything specific
to intermittent black flash.)
