video files are missing from TMP folder

Hello NG!

I still got the problem that video files are missing from the TMP folder after reboot.

Was there something known about the phenomenon yet? I think I ones downloaded
something with a video file or even separate from the video file, and I can not figure
where it was stored to on the computer. Must be somewhere, right.

I am very sorry. The folder the files vanish from was named 'Temp' folder, not 'TMP' folder.

I asked about the issue quite a while ago but hadn't got a reply solving the problem. Some of
the professionals said it's a Windows default, but it was not.

Also, there have not been any answers to the problem in the Internet. I wanted to know if now
any thing was known about the issue.

Temp and Tmp stand for "temporary." There are any number of reasons why
files stored in these folders vanish.

Some files may wind up in these folders automatically. If you really
want to save a file from the Internet, you should save it to a specific
directory of your choosing. I use "scratch" on my D: drive.

that's a good idea. I save some of the files to an other folder. But, why do they get
lost in the 'Temp' folder otherwise? Windows does not delete the users files by default,
right?

Do you have the same trouble with the software?

will you agree Windows XP does not swipe temporary video files from the 'Temp' folder
itself by deault?

I still got video files in the folder. They where downloaded until a certain date. Any video
file stored beyond this date is gonna be deleted on reboot. I think that's a serious probem.

What program downloaded these files to your temporary directory? Did you
not have a choice of where to save the video files?

I think that Windows XP doesn't delete contents of the temp folder
automatically, but I am not absolutely, positively sure of that. I
suggest you move the video files to another folder to avoid the
possibility of losing them.

This is not a problem unless you ignore it.

Yes Bill, sure I do understand the meaning of temporary. In this context it means the
folder was thought for other folders and/or files which will remain on the computer
for a certain time only.

But actually that are two things. One was to store files an other place which but
was no different in my case since they are still on the same drive.

This will not change the 'horrible situation the Temp folder is in'. Its gets files deleted,
which was not ok. One could say the folder was kind of sick, and so was the computer
And this then again was baaaad.

I downloaded the files to the Temp folder, and no, I got no plan about how they
vanish in case that's what you meant.
