Video device failed to initialize for full screen mode

Hi folks,

When I try to run MSDOS applications under Windows XP Professional and a
press ALT+ENTER keys to swith to the full screen mode the applications stop
running. It happens even with the EDIT application. It seems the keyboard
freezes and doesn´t respond to any event, after that all I can do is to
press the ALT+ENTER keys and switch back to windows mode to terminate the
application. I am also receiving the following message: "The video device
failed to initialize for full screen mode". Does anybody know what can be
done to make the MSDOS applications run in full screen mode.
