Video Clips

Hi. In FP 2003.
I can embed an .avi file and it works in preview (to a point) but not when
published to the web. Also, in Serif WP9, for example, I could embed an
inline video which would have a "mini" media player in which the video would
play in the page, but I can't see this as an option in FP?

If I link to the video it will open in WMP OK, but I would like it in the
page. Is it possible?

This is encoded at 256 kbps and is for DSL or high Speed connection.

Thanks John - I have found that I can do this by using a plug in, but this
always starts when the page loads. If I had, say, three clips on one page
they would all start at once, which would be awful. I know the simple
"insert" menu option for inserting a video has an option to strat the video
on page load or mouse hover, but the plug in doesn't.

Is there another add in program out there that could help?

Well this can be either way...
If you look at the source code on the page you will see I am using an external script
file...
This takes care of the outlined player (in IE) with the prompt to "click here to
activate".
By changeing the script you can load the page without starting the movie.

Steal the code and the script (test.js) and your good to go...

Hope this helps

Just an after thought...

Beware of bandwidth limitations of your site this could cost you money!!!

On that site is a movie (1.3 Megs) that is viewed enough to cause the usage to be about 3
Gigs a month. (now)
But at times (September) that goes up to 10~20 Gigs and at it's peak I had 17 Gigs a week.
(It is the 911 Flash movie)

BTW: It is still up and running......

Just wanted you to know that sometimes Movies can cost you money.
