video clips don't run in Powerpoint 2003 but they do in Windows Me

I am doing a presentation using some avi files and when I insert some of them
into powerpoint slides, they insert ok but do not run. Instead of the movie
running, i get a black box where the movie should play... Can anyone help me
out with this problem?
