Video changing colors when played

Running Office 2007 pro on brand new Vista laptop. Plenty of HD space and 2GB
ram.

I am building a presentation, and putting video clips in it. The video clips
are .wmv format and play fine in the windows media player when played outside
of Powerpoint.

Once they are imported however, blue turns to purple, cream turns greenish,
etc. This is not only while they are still, but also when played. They play
fine without skipping, pausing, etc.... just the color is off.

I cannot find any way to adjust the color of the videos in Powerpoint. Any
ideas on how to color correct the videos or how to keep them from discoloring
in the first place?

Yup... did that, it has the latest drivers.... I also made sure that I have
any updates from Microsoft for Vista and for Office 2007

Ok then, lets back up. Where did the video come from? How was it put into
the wmv format? Many third party encoders do a very poor job of it.

You might give either PFCMedia or PFCPro a go.
http://www.playsforcertain.com In most cases if you can play the video in
Media Player it will automatically sort out the issues for you. (Both
add-ins come with a free two week trial so they should get you out of the
woods here.)

ok... the video came from youtube.com. I used firefox as the browser, and
videodownloader as the plugin. Once on my computer it was saved as a .flv
flie, then converted to a .wmv file with "Super" video converter. The file
played fine in the powerpoint when I was running it on my other laptop under
XP pro. Now that it is on the new laptop which uses Vista, the colors are
changing.

I uninstalled the Office 2007 on my old laptop, and re-installed it on the
new laptop. Now I am also noticing that the Office 2007 says "Microsoft
Powerpoint non-commercial use" at the top. This is a Office 2007 Professional
Upgrade disc that I installed.

Well, its obvious this video has been through lots of conversions and
re-encoding sessions. Honestly, there are at least a hundred ways that
could have gone south on you. I'll give the same suggestion as I always do,
contact the YouTube poster and ask if you can get a copy of the original
video. (Most people are more than happy to send it and are flattered at the
request.)

Hi there

What Austin said. Plus you could try rolling back to Media Player 10 - I
have heard of problems with Mdeia Player 11 & PowerPoint. Just a thought.

yes... but I never had an issue until I tried to play it in Powerpoint 2007
on the Vista laptop... so that is what led me down the path of thinking it
was due to that, not the video itself, since it also plays just fine in the
Windows Media player, just not in Point

My understanding is that there is something about the way Media player 11 &
PowerPoint 2007 interact that makes videos go a bit off even when it plays
fine in Media Player 11 stand alone. Vista comes with Media Player 11
installed but it might be worth rolling it back to 10 to see if this fixes
the issue - you can always re-install 11.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding :)

Sounds like something specific to the Vista box -- and I'd guess it's
Windows Media Player 11 and how it interacts with PowerPoint, but other than
that I got no ideas, sorry.

I really just wanted to address this side issue:
new laptop. Now I am also noticing that the Office 2007 says "Microsoft
Powerpoint non-commercial use" at the top. This is a Office 2007
Professional
Upgrade disc that I installed.

If you see "non-commercial use" at the top, then you installed Home and
Student, not Professional. Just wanted you to know.

No answer, just comment.
I have the same problem. Only with WMVs in PPT. MPG works fine.
Used PPT 2003 & 2007. Same problem
The WMVs play fine in Windows movie player.
When put into Windows Movie Maker you see the color shift, but you can render them out and again they llok good in Windows Player but not in PPT (I had a green skinned Director of Marketing, not very good)

just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. Will try some things and repoert any positive findings
