Hi group,

I have a Radeon7000/Radeon VE (Family Microsoft) video card

My monitor zoom in and out or expand and shrink from time to time.
Today I scanned some photos and they where hazy.
I tried again later and the scanner was OK.

Somebody told me it was rather my video card or my monitor.

The tower ( I bought brand new) is 5 years old as is the video card.
I bought a used monitor 5 years ago.

What are the odds?

I think the odds are good that your monitor is in it's death throes.
Especially if it was used, 5 years ago. You can check on the back for an
actual manufacturing date, if you care to. Personally, I'd suggest
shopping around for a new one.

FWIW, I just picked up a Dell P991 for $20 at a garage sale this weekend.
Is that ever a SWEEEET monitor! :) If I would have had that before I bought
my LCD panel 2 weeks ago, I wouldn't have picked up the panel. But now, I
just have two decent monitors hooked up to my computer, which is very nice.

It's probably the monitor's voltage regulation control deteriorating. Bright
images will cause the screen space to expand; dark images, contract. Replace
the monitor if it bothers you.

I just tried with a white image. I switched it to black and reverse and the
monitor does expand and contract.
