Video card memory: still dual-ported?

I remember about a decade ago VRAM was the optimal solution because it was
dual-ported. The GPU could write to the VRAM while the RAMDAC was reading from
it. Do modern video cards still feature dual-ported RAM? Or is it just regular
DDR?

just plain DDR i think now

Yeah, the Samsung modules on ATI 9x00 seem to be just normal DDR (or DDR-II)
in a BGA package.
