Hi. I have just got a digital video camera and am wanting to edit the video
on my pc. After inspection I found that my pc did not have a video capture
device, I have recently aquired a 'Legacy 22-10727-01 REV A' Video Riser
Card. Can this be used to capture video and also will I need any drivers to
insall the card onto the pc or is it plug & play? Hope you can help!

Most digital video is simply transferred by Firewire to the
computer. Analog video is captured by a card such as a
ATI-AIW or an external box.

| You have the manual for your, "device", how would we know.

Well actually Nick, I don't have the manual, the "device" was given to me by
a friend that's why I'm asking, if I had the manual I wouldn't have posted.

Ok, so does that mean I can go straight from the s-video out on the camera to
the s-video in on the pc?

Manuals for almost all electronic devices are available for
download from the maker's website.

S-video is not Firewire, S-Video goes direct to a TV and if
you have a capture card/box it will go to that. It will not
have any audio, so you really need the manual.

Is there a label on the camera?

if you mentioned what make tyhe camera is people might have a better
idea but as has been pointed out you should be able to directly upload
to your pc from a digital video camera. Did you get no software such
as an editor with it?
