Video Capture

DEG

Very new to PP so not sure if this is even possible. Currently have 2003 and
also trial version of 2007.

Can a person capture the presentation (including the embedded wav) to a
video file?

What I'm looking to do is to place a viewable file on a web site that people
can view without down loading the file.

I've been able to "Package" the file and have one folder that shows the
presentation in the 2007 viewer. I'm not sure if this is the right direction
to accomplish what I want or not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

The upcoming version of PPT (PPT 2010) has an export to video feature that
is perfect for this. The beta version is still available (and free) and has
full video export capabilities.

Troy,

Thanks for the lead. I dl'd the beta 2010 and it worked beautifully for
what I wanted. The help file is a little misleading but I poked around and
found the video creation area. The help file says to click on "Save and
Send" under the File tab but that wasn't there. However by clicking on the
"Share" tab under File it opened up the video creating section.

I'm not familiar with this "Beta" stuff....when I dl'd the program it gave
me a product key but never asked for me to insert it in the installation or
in the use of the product. Also I didn't see an expiration date anywhere
during install or use.

Do you know how long I can expect to use this?

Thanks again, much appreciated,

Don

Sounds like the beta version available for download is an older one. The
released version of PPT 2010 replaces "share" with "save & send." Sounds
like the Help files are more current than the beta 2010 download. :)

According to http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/en/faqs/default.aspx#14q
the beta will expire in October 2010. I believe it's actually October 31,
but I wouldn't count on that.

If you click File, then Help (or maybe it says PowerPoint in that version, I
can't remember), there will be information in the pane on the right. It may
say "Activate Product," and for that, you may need the product key. If not,
just hang onto that key -- you may need to input it at some point before
October.

Thanks Echo,

I've got the key hidden away in the file with the exe for the program so if
it does ask for it, I'll have it handy.

Strange that I just dl'd it this morning and it wouldn't be the most currect
version, but it sure did a nice job on my project. I've also found out a bit
more about the video producing options. The first one I ran was rather
small on the player but very small file size also. The second time I ran it,
I ran the HD option...file size thripled but the project filled the screen on
the player. It does look nice....

Yeah, they did a good job with the video export, I think -- and it's been
working well, even in the beta versions.

Why not use a professional PowerPoint to video converter like
Moyea PPT to DVD Burner Pro
http://www.dvd-ppt-slideshow.com/ppt_to_dvd/
Leawo PowerPoint to Video
http://www.leawo.com/powerpoint-video-converter/
They are far easier to use and can output almost all kinds of video
formats at the same time preserve the powerpoint originals like
animations, transitions, video clips and sounds.
