Viarus Protection

I have a friend that uses vista I use WInXp home.
This friend forwards POWER POINT FILES to me Which I can't open. Is it
because of the virus protection in vista that blocks viewing of these files.
Prior to vista she was using WINXP and any of these prior files I could
open. Thanks.

If your friend is using PowerPoint 2007 to make up the shows, she will have
to save them in PP 97-2003 format for you to be able to open them..

Hi, Sgt.

You probably need to change your settings in Tools | Options | Security.
Remove the check from the box that says, "Do not allow attachments to be
saved or opened that could potentially be a virus." For safety's sake, go
back and put the check in the box again after viewing the files that you
believe to be safe. (In Vista this same setting is in Tools | Safety
options | Security.)

It is probable that your friend has MS Office 2007 on her Vista PC and
you have an earlier version of Office (which does not understand the
later Office version's files).

Get her to Save as an PowerPoint 97-2003 version (Save as type dropdown
in the Save menu.

Box not checked. All other attachments open fine. I believe she purchased
laptop with vista installed maybe even new office. I use PowerPoint viewer
7.

I don't believe she creates the files herself. I suspect they are forwarded
to her and she forwards then to me.
Thanks to all who replied.
