Very slow desktop icons refresh.

Every now and again, something causes the desktop to refresh (just as if
you right-click the desktop and select 'Refresh'). I believe this is quite
normal behaviour, and usually all I see is a brief flicker of all the
icons repaint.

However, sometimes most of the desktop icons just change to the plain
generic icon and then it just sits there for 20-30 seconds before it
suddenly repaints all the icons.

Window does not "freeze" and everything else carries on as normal. It's
only the desktop icons affected. I wonder if anyone has any ideas as to
why this might occur?

Try setting monitor refresh rate to 60Hertz or belwo

Thanks, for the suggestion. It's an LCD monitor already set to a 60Hz
refresh rate.

However, I can't imagine what the monitor could to do with it?

The display is otherwise perfect. It is like the *desktop* freezes (only it
not frozen, it still works normally apart from the un-repainted icons) and
other open windows still work normally.

Eddy.
