Very Long Calculation Times

I have a large spreadsheet that has a lot of data and a lot of formulas. I
have deleted a very large amount of the spreadsheet in order to streamline
the amount of time that it takes to calculate cells. I normally work in a
manual calc mode. I thought that after making these changes that the calc
time would have dropped dramatically. It has not changed at all really. The
overall size of the spreadsheet has been cut in half. Are there any usual
supects that consume calc times? Is there any way to test the sheet to see
where the resource drag is?
