vertical text does not display in labels

I've got the same problem with vertical text. Font is Arial and I have't
changed any marging settings. Funny thing is that it used to work but doesn't
now! Any ideas anyone?
 
We are experiencing the same problem with a report containing a vertical 3 of
9 font. I have only found reports of the issue no solutions.
 
The problem happened after my Internet was upgraded. I've taken the upgrade
off and everythign works fine now
