Vertical line precedes pointer

For some reason, I have a vertical line in front of my pointer. I am using
XP and a MS Intellimouse (wireless) and no matter how I configure the mouse,
I cannot get rid of this vertical line. This is very distracting and makes
it hard to put the pointer exactly where you want it in order to make
changes in a document.

Any help that you can provide, will be appreciated. Thanks.

Assuming that the problem is just that your pointer set accidentally got
changed, just go to control panels/appearance and themes/mouse pointer (far
left panel)/pointers and change to whatever you want. I like the gold pointer.

This was a malfunctioning Video Card (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro). I put a new
card in and the problem disappeared along with some other problems as well.
