Hi there

I have created an "Advertising' database in Acc2002. The database is
working fine.

I tried to put it on our "reception" computer, but that computer only has
Access97 installed.

Now it is running on XP, so Access 2002 can be installed, however, there is
an Access97 database on that pc so Im scared to install Acc2002 in case the
Acc97 database will stop working?

Could i install Access2002 as well, and open the Acc97 database with Acc97,
and the new database with Acc2002?

Please assist

Thank you kindly

Melissa

Melissa,

I am pretty sure you can install Access 2002 and keep the Access 97
installation. You will know if that option exists when you go through the
installtion wizard. It should ask you if you want to remove the previous
version. If not you can can abort before the installtion is complete. You
can open an Access97 database in Access2002 so you really don't need the
Access97 version. Both are good.

God Bless,

There's no problem having multiple versions of Access on the same machine
(as long, of course, as you have licenses for each version)

While it's try that you can open an Access 97 database in Access 2002, you
cannot make any design changes to it.

Doug,

That is true and I forgot about it becuase you can make changes to an
earlier version using Access 2007, which I am using. She can convert the
DB, however and since she has A2002 installed there may not be any reason to
not convert the A97 DB.

God Bless,

Mark
