Verizon Samsung i700 CDMA SMS Hayes AT Commands

I connected to my Samsung i700 with HyperTerminal directly on COM4. I can
send some basic AT Commands and communicate with it, dial numbers and get
some Verizon network info.

I want to send an SMS message and can't.

I've search high and low. I found GSM and CDMA references, but none of them
work on my phone and service provider. I also found some hearsay that one
can only send text SMS (no binary) on a CDMA network (I don't know if this
is true).

I'm pretty sure the phone has the qualcomm chip, if it helps with an answer.

Can anyone give me some advice where to look to figure out how to send a
text SMS message with AT Commands through Verizon? Or verify that it's
possible or not?

I don't have the specific answers you want, but have you considered writing
a CF application that communicates with the desktop via serial comms (or
sockets). The cf app can then send sms messages using the OpenNetCF sms
option. (possibly there is someting in CF2.0 to enable sms also).

You get a A+ for creative solution for sure. I could most likely do that,
but the overhead on the processor for ActiveSync has me weighing it over.

I did some more reading and figured out the that the CDMA modems are moving
towards a standard (I don't seem to have it in my phone).

I think I'm just going to end up getting a GSM phone with a different
provider for the project and plug that into the back of the machine.

Thanks for the reply.
