Not really, use someting like nero/tmpg etc to make a truely compliant vcd.

Thanks for that, I have just recorded a movie in dv-avi.
It was only 6 mins long yet the file was 1.12GB is that
right or am i doing something wrong.
 
That's right, which is why MM2 uses wmv a lot, much more compressed. DV-AVI
is as uncompressed as you'll get, so you lose nothing in quality and it is a
pretty much standard setting, so any app will import it and use it.
