VB help file not working

After a hard disk crash and new drive installed I've installed Access 2000
from the CD's. When coding a module and click on help the help window doesn't
appear. Click on help again and the help window opens but in hide tab style.
Click on show tabs and the text pane of the help window goes white and goes
"dormant". Close the help window and reopen and the tabs show. Some of the
index list items will show the help but none of the SQL, ADO, etc topics.

i've run a detect and repair. I've reset the help to 1st time use as a
(re)install from CD. None of these worked. I haven't see anything in the KB;
any suggestions?
