VB Express 2008 book

Not sure if this is the correct NG for this question so feel free to
point me in the right direction, if necessary.

I have used VB6 and MS Access VBA in the past and have now downloaded
the MS Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition software from Microsoft.

I already have a 'Teach Yourself VB2008' book and I am now looking for
books on this language which are a little bit more advanced (which
seem a bit scarce at the moment) and have found this one in my local
(UK) bookshop :-

Visual Basic 2005 In A Nutshell - from O'Reilly.

The book looks good but the question is - what is the difference
between VB2005 and VB2008. Will the book be OK for use with VB2008. I
can't find any equivalent for VB2008 so I am assuming it has not been
published (yet).

Thanks for any help on this.

You probably know but some people don't: There's a huge manual coming
with the product. I don't remember if it's included in the download:
http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/msdn/Default.aspx

And here is the full library:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...da-5062-4ebb-83c7-d3c5ff92a373&DisplayLang=en

Before I'd buy a book I'd look in the free, context sensitive
documentation. I don't have a single VB book (some think apparently...).

I second Armin's suggestion. Before you buy a book, especially a book on an
obsolete version (there's quite a bit new in 2008 vs 2005), search around in
MSDN for tutorials, examples, etc. that are free and up to date.

FWIW, to give you an idea of how obsolete 2005 is, VS 2010 is on the
horizon. No firm dates, but probably early in 2010 (my WAG).

You might want to take a look at Visual Basic2008 Recipes (APress). Most
things in it will apply to the Express version.

Thanks to everyone, have downloaded the big MSDN file. Will study it
in due course.
