Hello,

I must install an old application (VB4-16bits) in Windows 2003.

While in XP the apps works perfectly, under Windows 2003 and Vista, some
controls do not show their contents. While some controls work well (option
groups, text boxes) others like pictures and labels shows nothing instead of
the proper content.

Any idea?
Thanks, Alfredo

I would go and get the free copy of Virtual PC 2007 and install it.
Then run your old app inside the VPC frame. If you install something
like XP (or even an old Win98SE) in the VPC you should be able to see
the app's entire graphics.

You might try the application compatability tap in the program/file (or
shortcut)
properties.

Telling the app that it is running under XP (or another older OS) or setting
the
screen resolution may help.

It frequently does with these older Win9x apps.

This is a possible solution... but a bit complicated in my situation (The
goal is to publish the application in citrix)

Suspicous, that. XP and Win 2003 are not that different. It sounds like some
library is missing, are you using a setup program or just copying the exe?

Yes, it is suspicious -- they are very close to the same OS.

As long as the application compatibility settings were used, they should be
the
same with the most likely difference being the SECURITY settings on a
Server.

I'm using a setup program to install

You can download it at http://www.elojodelmatojo.net/130_2002.zip

To test what I say, just execute it and you will see a form with two buttons
"Castellano" and "Euskera".

In this form, in XP an image appears on top, while in 2003 and Vista nothing
appears, only the buttons.

If you enter other parts of the application, you will see how labels do not
appear in forms, only text boxes and other controls...

Alfredo
