valuing a labelled odds formula '15/8 I want result 1.875 ??????

I need one cell to display 15/8 thus using the label.

But I also want to use the result of 15 divided by 8 based on the value from
this cell.

I thought I could use the value and mid functions but it comes out in date
numbers.
The formula needs to apply to a range of odds....eg...100/30, 4/1, 8/13, 6/4
etc...

Please help !

Hi Matthew,

You can customize the number format as ??/? for display 15/8. This one is
take as the value 1.875 when you refer this some where or in any formula.
