Value keyed becomes divided by 100

I'm using Excel2003.

On a new sheet I have a problem with entering values.

When an integer is keyed it becomes n/100

eg 34 <enter> becomes 0.34

but =34 <enter> gives 34

and 34.0 <enter> gives 34

Also any calculation entry appears correctly

It looks as though there is a default format that I don't know about.

I'd be delighted if someone could help.

Go to the Tools menu, choose Options, then the Edit tab. There,
uncheck the "Fixed Decimal" setting.
