There are a number of sites that allow you to pass your page(s) through a validation process. Whether you need to or not is a
matter of choice and opinion. Most test the page in the major browsers and if it works in the environment they wish to have it
viewed in bypassing any type of formal validation.
Also there are free programs you can download and install and validate it right on your
computer.
One I use is the free CSE HTML Validator Lite from here: http://www.htmlvalidator.com/
When validating be sure to correct errors one at a time, starting at the top of the
page,and then recheck, because correcting one error will often correct or affect others.
