validate vista and then purchase licence

I have inhereited a pc with a copy of Vista on it which I am certain
is a non-genuine/licensed version. How can I go thru the validation
process and then on to the msft site which takes me thru the online
purchase of a licence in the same way I did once with WinXP?
I can't find any way for my copy of Vista to be validated or not

Yes, true. My apologies. Thanks to Mike for coming along with the right
info. But, in truth, I was at that page and went from there, via a link near
the bottom saying, "Find more information on genuine Windows Vista."
Following that link, I ended up at http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/ where I
then followed the link that says "Download the latest WGA Notifications
tool. My bad for assuming that nearly two years after RTM, that the tool
includes Vista. That it's only for XPx86 is ludicrous.

After looking further, I finally noticed the two big buttons at top right of
this page:
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/

"Validate Windows" and "Validate Office". It requires an Active-X install
and works fine for Vista, XP, Office XP and Office 2007 (can't vouch for
anything else.)
