Receive msg "Could not locate a valid definitions file..." I've tried to
follow the advice given so far, but it doesn't work. I have automatic
update on my virus protection. I haven't detected a program, so far, that
doesn't work. Just keep getting that msg over and over. I'm afraid I'm
missing something. Thanks for any
help you can give me.

You forgot to tell us what program is giving you the error message. If
it is your antivirus or other security program, contact their tech support.

Malke - Thanks for reply. I get the "could not locate..." msg when I try to
open e-mail. Eventually, it does open but it takes quite a while.

It sounds like you have your antivirus set to scan email. Go into its
options and turn off email scanning, It doesn't provide any additional
protection and causes problems.

If this doesn't solve your problem, post back with more details such as:

1. The email program you are using.
2. The antivirus program you are using.
3. The answer to The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed
between the time things worked and the time they didn't?
4. How you connect to the Internet (dialup, broadband, ISP).
