V5 windows update error failed 80246008 cannot install update

Hi, i've been having trouble using windows update V5. I
get it when updating either through SP1 or SP2 but only
while using V5 of win update. I have made sure that
background intelligent transfer is enabled & also made
sure that BITS is included in the SVCHOST part of the
registry, but nothing seems to work. I have also turned
off all firewalls, set IE settings to default etc. Any
ideas?

Sounds like you've installed the XP SP2 RC2 "BETA" software - as it
also upgrades windows update to use version 5 instead of 4. Suggest
you post in the SP2 newsgroups as part of the BETA agreement you made
when downloading/installing the software.
