Depends on which country's Yahoo server's you are using. If it's
the US servers at yahoo.com, you have to either pay extra or
install YPOPs:

Dave I have windows mail and windows live mail I have also upgraded to yahoo
plus and followed thier instructions, but these where for outlook express,
and I still can not recieve or send using either mail app. Can you make any
kind of reconmendations as to my next step?

Because of work and internet access situtation I will not be back till n ext
friday or saturday.

I just set mine up yesterday and the codes for at least my SBC Yahoo account
were pop.att.yahoo.com incoming with 995 on the next set up page. Outgoing
is smtp.att.yahoo.com with 465 as the value on the next page. I found this
on a net chat board and then was able to confirm it in My Yahoo under My
Account. Hope this helps.

My problem now is that all my Yahoo mail has been imported into Windows Mail
and this is the only computer I am running Vista on. This is a pain to me
and so I am researching setting up Windows Live Mail, but I am not sure that
runs on XP either.

yeah I did everything that yahoo said I needed to do.
i'll have to try it again and get back to you on the error message, it may
be next weekend before I am back at the library thou.

here is that error message every time i try to send or recieve my yahoo mail

"server: 'plus.stmp.mail.yahoo.com'
windows live mail error ID: 0x00ccc0d
protocol: stmp
port: 465
secure (ssl): yes
socket error: 11001

server: 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
windows live mail error ID: 0x800cc0e
protocol: pop3
port: 995
secure (ssl): yes
socket error: 10061"

does this tell us anything?

It tells us you're asking a Window Live Mail question in a newsgroup with
few Windows Live Mail experts. You're likely to get a faster answer if
you ask in newsgroup:

microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

Don't paraphrase the error message (you misspelled SMTP). Right-click on
the error message, click on Copy, then paste it into a reply.

here is the message and thanks that is something that i should of remembered
from then our mouses where made of stone. "ha!ha!ha!" that tells how old I am
since I started in computers working on a IBM 1401 and EAM machinces.

thank you and I will go there just as soon as I can but I am in the middle of
a large download at present on my os2 side.

The first error message (re: 'plus.stmp.mail.yahoo.com' ) is because
you have a typo in the server name. Change stmp to smtp.
I use the memory aid "Simple Mail Transfer Protocol" to remember
what the proper abbreviation is, but only geeks would find that useful. ;-)
