I'm shortly due to go buy a new copy of XP for a second computer. Is it
possible to use this new install CD on my first computer, but use the license
key that came with its original copy of XP, so as to perform a full reinstall
to SP2 in the future if need be ?

I'm NOT wanting to run one copy on two machines, just save a little time
when coming to reinstall the original version of XP to SP2. I'm not sure if
license keys that come with XP are version or build locked or anything
similar.

Thanks in advance.

Before anyone comments, this applies to WinXP Home edition in both instances.
Thanks.

Andre;
Both licenses must be the same type for both Product Keys to work with
the new CD.
Retail vs. OEM
Full vs. Upgrade
Home vs. Pro
Etc.

OK, got it. Cheers for your help.
